Armazene e recupere imagens no Postgresql usando Java

o capítulo 7 da documentação do postgresql jdbc trata do armazenamento de dados binários e usa uma imagem (arquivo *.gif) como exemplo. você pode querer lê-lo.

inserindo uma imagem no db (do link acima)

FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(file);
PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO images VALUES (?, ?)");
ps.setString(1, file.getName());
ps.setBinaryStream(2, fis, (int)file.length());

ps.close();
fis.close();

lendo uma imagem do db (também do link acima)
